The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to maintain, optimize, and enhance our SQL Server database environments.
Location: Brisbane-based with regular travel to Townsville
This role offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects while supporting and improving a dynamic database environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily health checks to ensure optimal database performance and proactively address potential issues.
- Manage database stability and contribute to future strategies aligned with industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, reporting, and tool deployment.
- Implement governance best practices to enhance database services for internal and external users.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including index rebuilds, statistics updates, and patching, to ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate closely with key business stakeholders while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in database administration within large organisations.
- Proficiency in SQL Server management, platform monitoring, and automation scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to provide technical and process recommendations.
- Expertise in managing system security, compliance, and performance optimisation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with SQL Server services such as SSRS and SSIS.
- Proficiency with tools like SQL Server Management Studio.
- Expertise in managing large datasets, schema design, and query optimisation.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL features and database security practices.
