Our Opportunity


We have the opportunity to appoint an experienced Product Development Manager to run our Baking Development team based at our head office in Auckland city. Reporting to The Head of R & D you will be an integral part of the Goodman Fielder R & D function.  You will be responsible for delivering product development solutions for the baking category that deliver on business and project outcomes and meet regulatory requirements while ensuring emerging consumer trends and food trends are leveraged to maximise business outcomes and opportunities.


About You


To be successful in your application, you will have: 


  • Tertiary qualification in Food Technology or Sciences
  • 8+ years in Product Development within FMCG environment
  • Ideally have come from a commercial baking background
  • End to end food production/process development within the manufacturing environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of the NPD process from ideation to commercialisation
  • Strong product formulation experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Experience project managing multiple projects
  • People leadership experience
  • Manage projects to deliver commercial outcomes


Key accountabilities of the role include:


  • Maintain an intimate and current understanding of emerging consumer trends, technologies and the regulatory environment
  • Establish collaborative forums outside of specific project meetings to work on “future state” innovation opportunities.  Regularly present to appropriate functions to share insights
  • Drive opportunities to improve the cost optimisation and quality for your category
  • Conduct robust bench and factory trials, and provide technical support where required to ensure quality standards are achieved
  • Ensure all products meet HACCP, quality & SHE requirements and regulatory compliance requirements are met
  • Ensuring new raw materials sourced meet all internal and regulatory standards
  • People leadership
