About the opportunity:

We are now looking for a dynamic, influential and experienced Senior HR Advisor responsible for our Victoria and Tasmania manufacturing and distribution sites; Clayton, Dandenong, Keilor Park and Hobart. Predominantly based at our Clayton bakery facility, you will be reporting to the South/Central HR Manager. This newly created role will be an integral member of the Goodman Fielder HR team, partnering closely with the VIC/TAS Baking Operations team to deliver Human Resources initiatives, advice, support and services to state based operations.


You will be responsible for:

  • Recruitment and selection; Partner with line management and the Talent Acquisition team promoting equal employment opportunity, provide an  engaging and consistent onboarding experience to new-starters.
  • Performance management; support the annual performance review process, coach and develop line managers to enhance team performance and culture.
  • Learning and development; prepare and co-ordinate programs and external training, support internal roll out of training programs, address specific performance improvement opportunities.
  • Industrial relations; protect GFs reputation by ensuring compliance to all local and state employment laws and regulations, act as a contact for the local unions, provide IR advice, support site management during Union related meetings, support the review EBA for improvement opportunities, support the site leadership team on negotiation strategy and communications.
  • Site operations; review and challenge existing work practices and seek opportunities for improvement, be a role model on site by living the quality, cost and safety culture, actively participate in regular site based meetings, communicate between payroll and site, ensure compliance with required food manufacturing and customer standards, support injury management programs and non-work related injuries.
  • People and culture; ensure leadership behaviours are consistent with the vision, goal and priorities of GF, maintain focus on talent management and succession planning, ensure development plans are in place with capability needs being assessed.


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline; HR, Business or related
  • 5+ years in HR related role, preferably within FMCG and/or site manufacturing
  • Ability to travel occasionally between sites/states, however predominantly within VIC
  • Experience with Unions and negotiations essential
  • Knowledge of Industrial Relations, Awards, Enterprise Agreements
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence effectively
  • High computer literacy, SAP experience beneficial but not essential
