The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Laboratory Supervisor to play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality cheese products at our Puhoi Valley manufacturing site.
Location: Puhoi Valley Cheese manufacturing site – Puhoi, North Auckland
About the Role
As our Laboratory Supervisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring our delicious products meet the highest quality standards. You will oversee testing resources, laboratory standard operating procedures, problem-solving, and site communication to uphold the highest quality standards. Your leadership will be essential in developing and managing effective testing, reporting, and training programmes to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead & develop a small team, managing daily laboratory operations.
- Oversee microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory testing for compliance.
- Ensure accurate product analysis to meet specifications and legal requirements.
- Investigate quality issues & customer complaints, driving continuous improvement.
- Provide training & support for manufacturing teams in GMP and quality standards.
- Manage lab budgets & resources, ensuring efficiency and cost control.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of microbiology and chemistry laboratory experience.
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing laboratory.
- Strong ability to review, develop, and implement procedures to enhance quality standards.
- A tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- Strategic mindset with a willingness to get involved in every aspect and learn on the job.
