We're looking for a qualified artisan baker turned innovator to become our next Technical Manager Artisanal Baking - You are someone who understands dough in their hands, but can also translate that magic into high-volume, repeatable manufacturing. Someone curious, bold, and not afraid to challenge process to unlock something better.
Consumers are demanding more from bakery — better flavour, texture, shelf life, and cleaner labels.
We believe the future lies in bringing artisan baking science into scalable production — and this role is at the centre of that transformation.
What you'll do
You'll sit at the intersection of craft, science, and manufacturing, leading the evolution of artisan-style products at scale.
- Lead innovation across fermented and artisan dough systems (sourdough, long fermentation, hybrid techniques)
- Translate bench-top brilliance into commercial manufacturing success
- Optimise dough behaviour — from rheology and hydration through to crumb, crust and shelf life
- Partner closely with operations to improve line performance without compromising quality
- Troubleshoot complex challenges — and not be afraid to push boundaries (and the odd process) to get there
- Identify emerging global trends and turn them into real, scalable product platforms
- Build strong relationships across sites, suppliers, and stakeholders — your personality matters here
What you'll bring
You're a rare mix of artisan craftsperson, technical thinker, and commercial operator:
- A qualified artisan baker with deep understanding of fermentation, dough structure, and baking fundamentals
- Experience working in or alongside FMCG or scaled production environments
- The ability to translate feel and instinct into process and consistency
- A natural collaborator and communicator — you build trust easily and influence across teams
- Curiosity and courage — you're willing to experiment, challenge norms, and think differently
- A passion for creating bakery products that genuinely stand apart in the market
