Our Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Product Commercialisation Technologist to join our Palmerston North-based R&D team.
As our Product Commercialisation Technologist, you will play a pivotal part in our high-performing team by overseeing the seamless integration of R&D projects across our Longburn and Yoplait factories.
You will be responsible for developing, documenting, and implementing product and processing solutions that align with our strategic business objectives.
Depending on your knowledge and experience, we may offer this as a Senior role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and improvement of dairy products (yoghurt, fresh milk and cheese), manage tender processes, and support capital projects
- Design and conduct factory trials, oversee first production runs, and commercialize new dairy products
- Develop and communicate project timelines and key milestones, maintaining comprehensive records and documentation
- Apply project management and technical skills to organize and manage dairy product commercialization projects, ensuring thorough risk management throughout the process
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Operations, Quality staff, Planning, Procurement, Marketing, and external stakeholders
- Maintain comprehensive records and documentation of all key development activities, including raw material & finished product specifications, factory trial reports and SAP data
About You:
- Qualification in Food Technology or Sciences/Food Chemistry/ Food Engineering/ Chemistry
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders
- Experience in a production site-based technical role in the dairy industry is essential
- Occasionally flexible hours working required
- Exposure to the development and commercialization of dairy products such as yoghurt, fresh/UHT milk, and cheese highly desirable
- Hands on project management experience with a systematic approach to problem-solving and time management
- Knowledge and experience with ultrafiltration (UF), homogenization, pasteurization and ultra-high temperature (UHT) processing is a significant advantage
