About the role
The Audit & Assurance Manager is the central authority for quality assurance and food safety compliance across all Australian manufacturing sites, providing independent, risk‑based assurance of quality systems, HACCP programs, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements.
The role owns audit performance, incident oversight, and CAPA effectiveness, identifying risks early, preventing repeat non‑conformances, and driving consistent standards across the network. This position strengthens governance and accountability while protecting the business from regulatory, customer, and reputational risk.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage the external audit and the internal audit program, ensuring timely closure and sustained effectiveness of findings.
- Provide assurance that HACCP systems and critical food safety controls are validated, verified, and effectively implemented across all sites.
- Oversee customer and technical compliance, including technical documentation, portals, complaint responses, and customer audit outcomes.
- Provide central governance of significant quality and food safety incidents, ensuring effective investigation, escalation, and learning.
- Review and challenge root cause analysis and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify trends, systemic risks, and emerging compliance gaps, driving preventative actions across the network.
- Deliver independent assurance reporting on quality system performance and consistent application of standards across all sites.
What you will need
- Tertiary Qualification in Food Technology or Science related degree
- 5+ years in Quality Lead role in FMCG environment
- Experience leading food safety and quality audits, including managing external certifications and internal audit programs. (BRCGS, WSEP, CFMSR)
- Strong knowledge of HACCP systems and critical food safety controls in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing customer and technical quality requirements, including complaints and customer audits.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee quality and food safety incidents, ensuring effective investigation and learning.
- Capability to challenge root cause analysis, verify corrective actions, and drive prevention of recurring issues.
